Maybe it does.
The Academy of Life presents:
The Healing Potentialities of Kundalini Yoga
The Academy of Life:
The Academy of Life is a project starting January 9, 2010 and dedicated to showcasing some of the many healing applications of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. An outgrowth of the Toronto Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association, this initial session of nine weekly 90 minute sessions on different issues of health and wellness is being presented by several Kundalini Yoga specialists.
Goals:
The goals of the Academy are:
1) to increase general awareness of the wealth of Kundalini Yoga techniques to promote health and wellness;
2) to connect people with unresolved health and wellness issues to teachers specializing in techniques that might benefit them;
3) to connect teachers with people they can benefit with their expertise.
Kundalini Yoga:
In 1968, a yogi known as Yogi Bhajan came from the East and taught what in India had been a secret science. It was called Kundalini Yoga. He also shared his vision of the dawning of a new age of holism, empowerment and connectivity.
The beauty of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® is that it works. It works on the premise that we were born to be healthy and happy and radiant, no less. It is also highly specific in its applications.
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® uses a combination of body postures, breathing, inner locks, mantras, hand postures, and mental focus. Yogi Bhajan included in his teachings the science of diet, eating particular foods for particular health-giving effects. Kundalini isnt hot yoga. It isnt cold yoga. But the aim of every yoga is eventually to raise your kundalini and make you ultimately aware.
Because of the conservatism of todays scientific establishment, not a lot of time or money goes to study the effects of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® or any other form of mind-body medicine. But even without the medical research, this is an amazing body of tools for all kinds of challenges in life. And the outcomes so far are encouraging.
Medical Advice:
Anyone with a serious medical condition should consult with a qualified medical doctor, or perhaps more than one of them. The Kundalini Yoga and other holistic technologies taught in the Academy of Life are best practiced under the guidance of a trusted medical professional.

January 23Keep Your Brain Vital and Alive with Kundalini Yoga
Taught by Inna Bondarchuk
Koffler House, 2nd floor, 569 Spadina Ave., University of Toronto (see the map)
I am an engineer during my daytime hours, so the sharp functioning of the brain on the daily and hourly basis is essential for my everyday life. Since Ive started doing Kundalini, my performance at work increased greatly, and I feel that this little computer in my head works better and gets taxed less, since its receiving its maintenance during my regular yoga activities. There are lots of yoga sets aimed specifically for the brain, and there are some simple 1- to 3-minute exercises that can be done anywhere and that can help sharpen the brains performance and relax unnecessary tension at the same time, therefore relieving stress accumulated in our bodies.
